More About Kara

I have a passion for working with couples and families to create healthy family dynamics that create deeper connection.

It seems like long before I became a therapist I have been a caregiver or a “therapist” to others in my life. I’ve worked in the medical field for over 15 years. After making through many of my own significant struggles in life I found that counseling was where I was meant to be. Being a helper comes natural to me.

My approach in therapy is from a relational perspective. Every person we are in relationship with impacts us and we impact them. Sometimes it can be hard to know how we get into regular painful interactions that don’t make sense. I will meet you where you are and provide a way out of the confusion and despair.

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado Christian University. I am trained in family systems therapy, which provides a holistic approach to therapy. I have a background in Emotionally Focused therapy and attachment. I also have additional training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Kara lives with her husband Ryan, who she has been married to for over 20 years. She has a spunky German Shepherd mix that keeps them on their toes as well as an adorable cat named Gus. When not meeting with clients you will find her outdoors. She loves to paddleboard, read and do DIY projects at home. Carolina beaches are her favorite getaway.

I truly believe there is hope for healing in every relationship.

and when the storm did not blow her way…

she adjusted her sails.
